Innocent until proven guilty – is a phrase we all know well as part of our judicial system. We know how our court system works and also, how often it doesn’t work.

But what about our own guilt – we are the police officer, judge and jury of our own actions. How did we become so harsh with others and ourselves? We feel guilty about so much and want others to feel guilty about the atrocities we feel they committed against us, society, and even the earth. Now I know this seems a bit of an exaggeration, but it is to make a point. Truthfully and literally I think sometimes the more subtle the “offense” against us, the more damaging something can be, because like a subliminal message it drives itself deep into us, so softly and like a tiny splinter we don’t really notice going in, it becomes sore over time.

We spend so much of our time looking for the right teacher, partner, job, you name it – we seem to be looking for it. So often within that outer search, we seem to get farther away from ourselves, and the innocence of who we are.

When did we lose that innocence? Was it taken from us as children – to a certain degree I think that answer is, yes, of course it was. On the other hand, I think we abandon it freely on a daily basis, not taking the time to notice the miracles that occur if you slow down and absorb life as it comes to you, instead of searching and looking for it.

Two weeks ago, I wrote about enchantment. I think without our innocence we can never fully experience enchantment. Innocence and enchantment are too often spoiled by science and our own curiosity that sends us climbing up the tree of knowledge, sending us on a search for the truth, and like a poison apple spoils the mystery of what exists in each moment of our life experience.

They say that OM is the sound of creation – the first sound made. Sounds a lot like MOM. Maybe our mother is OM forwards and backwards. Many of us have lost our maternal mothers, and if we have not, many of us have become the caretakers of them. I will tell you that the earth is the mother to us all.

If you don’t believe the Earth is our Mother, then tell me why, on just about any given day, you can walk outside, take off your shoes, and instantly feel better. She holds us and heals us in her vibration.

Her oceans and seashores heal the sick, and medicine can be found springing up from the dirt in the form of plants. She truly is our caretaker.

I have wondered often as so many others before me and with me, what is the purpose of our lives on earth, and what could possibly be the point in coming here, when we all seem to just want to find home. I think heaven sent us here as seeds and the earth birthed us as our mother. Maybe we are here to love the earth in the same way we love our own mother. I believe we are here to spread that in the innocence of joy, miracles, and random acts of kindness, and in doing so, we bring heaven to earth.

Saturday April 29th was Earth day, and Sunday May 11 is Mother’s Day. In case you did not think about our Earth on Earth Day, remember her on Mother’s Day and be a child again, and remember how innocent it felt being with your Mother when you were very small. As we get older let us remember that the Earth too needs our parenting, just as our human mothers do. That is the innocence of who we are.

We are the children of Earth.

We have all experienced how certain places and people can sometimes suck the life force out of us like psychic vampires, draining us of our energyenerg, often leaving us with headaches, and bad moods. But how often do we voluntarily find our selves in an energetic exchange even while watching the news? We hear a story about a celebrity divorcing, or in rehab, or an animal or child has suffered some maltreatment. Often and usually with the best of intentions, we begin to dissect the situation, and decide what the person or situation needs, and in that moment we begin to outwardly project into the world our energy – and as we do – we lose a little of ourselves voluntarily within our version of what should be. We stretch ourselves on an energetic wave to that person or situation, diluting our ability to perceive our own moment.

It is next to impossible to perceive what another is here to learn. You may be here to learn about trust, while another is here to learn humility. When we view others hardships, and shake our heads and say that is awful, truly we do not know that. Life is difficult for most. I don’t know of many people who have not suffered a loss or betrayal of some kind. It is but a moment in the classroom called life. To pray someone else’s lessons away is to rob them of their education. As we project our version of anything out into the world, we are immediately drawn into an energetic exchange and become triggered by the polarities we all possess in this world of duality. We are in the process of the shift we do not want to reinforce the duality of opposites. Understand however they are still there! We are not post-shift.

Consider not sending anything out at all. The only way to improve on the conditions of the world is to become the improvement. I cannot tell you how freeing it is when you begin to not take on all of the world’s problems.

I am not speaking of retracting our energy from the world, and retreating to some mountaintop to never utter a cross word again. I believe we all will continue learning while we are in these containers called bodies – each of us rising up to meet a new challenge or new joy, consciously within our own energy system and within our own body. When we are faced with a challenge rising up means just that…going within, to the seat of your soul and rising up your own inner connection to source or your higher self, and finding the answer specific to you, and only you. When we encounter a personal joy, we beam out that joy naturally radiating light and love, and those that enter into our space radiate within it as well. It is not a conscious effort, but a heart centered spiritual state.

Prayer that is sent out, from a sense of pity, is coming from a disconnected and assuming point of view. When we choose to enter into deep mediation or prayer, we are linked directly up to source – removed from human views with human solutions. There is no greater gift any of us can give to the world than the gift of being ourselves, within ourselves.

Understanding where your energy is flowing, calling yourself back and becoming centered will allow you to begin to realize the universe does not have human agenda or our own personal agenda as its primary focus. When we all can openly and joyfully look for the blessing buried in our own difficulties and allow others and the world to do the same we will become harmonious sounds in the symphony of life.
